On April 20th my son turned 5 years old and my mom turned a year older than she was last year. (I know how old, but she'd probably prefer I don't announce it.)
The theme for Gaetano's birthday was The Incredibles. All of us wore paper Incredibles masks to dinner at Bucca D'Beppo. One of the waiters was a big fan of the film and looked like he could be Frozone. As he walked by our table he impersonated Frozone by shouting, "Honey, where is my super suite? Where is my super suit!?" We all cracked up laughing; it was great. So of course we gave him a mask to wear too. Two other servers also wore the masks.
Since Gaetano and my mom share a birthday they also shared the birthday cake I made for them with The Incredibles figurines as decoration. It had Frozone sliding in on some ice that was made of icing and rock candy, which Gaetano just loved.
Gaetano got a really cool Blue 16" Sting Ray bicycle, airplanes and a bunch of other cool gifts. I'm sure this will be a birthday party he never forgets.
Keep an eye on this post for an update... I'll be posting pictures in the coming week.

In a desperate search for a cereal without any potassium (due to my allergy of it), I have recently discovered All Newman's Own Wild Blueberry Pecan cereal. (I would provide a direct link to the exact product but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on their website and neither does Costo's site which is where I purchased the cereal.)
Since it is all natural that means Gaetano can have it too because there are no artificial colors. For me that's a double win.
So what's this got to do wiht generosity? Well, I was reading the side of the box and it says, "Paul Newman, as sole owner of Newman's Own, donates all his profitss and royalties after taxes for educational and charitable purposes." Wow... His website says that he's donated over 150 million dollars since 1982.
Mr. Newman has given me a reason beyond our allergies to try his products. I'll be buying more of this cereal for certain and trying out more All Natural Newman's Own brand products for sure.
I wish I'd found this cereal sooner! (I've been searching for over a year now.) Hopefully the rest of his products are as tasty and healthy...
If you know of any of his products that are especially good (low fat, and potassium free are preferable) please feel free to post a comment or send me an email. Thanks!

Has any one found the wonderful (I am addicted) Blueberry pecan cluster cereal (Paul newman) I got hooked on it from Price Chopper and they no longer have it in the store. I was told they no longer carry it since it was not popular. Hard to believe. If any one knows where to find it I would love to know. I really miss it since it was the best cereal I have ever had. (Lots of clusters and nut) Most cereals you have a hard time finding the nuts and fruit that are on the label! Thanks
Sorry, still no luck finding it here... Hopefully some day they'll bring it back. ~Angela

The alliance of Paul Newman and Costco ended, but good news! Price Chopper now has the alliance and is carrying the blueberry pecan cluster cereal as well as Cranberry Macadamia Nut. You do not have to join Price Chopper,it is just a grocery.
I'm having trouble confirming this with my Google searching. Do you have a link Janni? That'd be much appreciated by everyone who reads this :-)
Thanks! ~Angela

I also would like to be able to purchase Newman's own Blueberry Pecan cereal. I have not been able to find it anywhere and have asked Costco about it and they are now making their own (a copy of Newmans) and they are no longer making the blueberry they are just making the cranberry and the cranberries could break a tooth if you were not careful. I wish we could find Newman's Blueberry cereal again
Maybe eventually they'll bring it back if enough people leave their comments on this post? Couldn't hurt... ~Angela

I also love the Blueberry Pecan Cluster Cereal that Costco carried but they no longer carry it. Go figure!! Maybe if all of us and more contacted Costco they would put it back on the shelves. I did talk to them yesterday, Saturday June 14th and they don't plan on bringing it back.
Yeah, no luck for me either. Target has a Pecan Sticky Bun cereal by Archer Farms that's pretty good. Toss in some blueberries and it's a decent replacement. ~Angela

Just found your 2005 comment re Newman's cereal. I too bought it at Costco and loved it and cannot find it. Have you had any luck???
I look for it in every store.
Sorry Billie, no luck. Pecan Sticky Bun cereal with real blueberries makes for a pretty decent replacement. Hope that helps! ~Angela

I tried Kirkland Brand Blueberry Pecan from Costco. (I was desperate!) Not worth it! Don't even waste your money! Once you had the best, you can't go to anything less. I was greatly disappointed in their attempt to replace Newman's Own. (I think it is Price Chopper who is co-branded with Newman's Own. Now I can't find it anywhere either. I have one Costco Box left at home. I am afraid to open it until I can replace it!!! Is that whacko or what?
Don't let the box expire, enjoy it while you can! ~Angela

The Blueberry Pecan cereal is back in Costco stores - without the Newman's Own name on it...
Really? So I'm assuming it is under their Kirkland brand since the cereal was co-branded with Kirkland if I recall correctly. Cool, thanks for sharing! ~Angela

I have also fell in love with Newman's Blueberry Cereal when I bought it at Costco! Unfortunately, last time I went there they didn't have it! I went to several other stores looking for it and it is no where to be found. A desperate search on the internet has led me to you! Where else can you get it or can you order it directly from their company? If something is in demand shouldn't it be readily available! Maybe we should contact Newman! Cereal Lover-Jen from Utah
Hi Jennifer, if you have a Whole Foods near you, they might have it. If they don't, you can try asking them to order it for you. Hope that helps! ~Angela

What has happened to Paul Newman's wonderful macadamia nut cereal that Costco used to carry? I am totally hooked on it and now I can't find it.
I have no idea... Macadamia sounds tasty though! Hope you found/find it! ~Angela

Hi Angela,
I totally love the Newman's Own Blueberry Pecan cereal as well and cannot find it anywhere. I was totally sick when they took it out of Costco. My daughter and I love it so much we could eat it every morning. Is there a direct website that you can buy it from? I have been searching for the last hour and cannot find it anywhere!!!! I have such a big headache from searching everywhere. Please help me!!! My daughter and I thank you :-)
I'm sure they sell it somewhere, but my Google searches aren't being lucky. I found several people posting in forums that they eat it for breakfast as recent as November 2007. So it was available at least around then -- unless the box was right about to expire or something. If I find it, I'll definitely post again. ~Angela

We really like the cereal to but Costco has stopped carrying it in Canada. We are looking for a source to purchase it in bulk. We would be thankful for any suggestions
I would start with health food stores. If you find one that carries other Newman's products, you might try asking the store manager to order it for you. ~Angela

I would like to know where I can buy this cereal. I think this is a terrific product & counted on continuing to get it at Costco, but they no longer carry it. (The manager was kind enough to answer my inquiry, but couldn't tell me where I could buy it.) Can you find out & let me know?
Thank you kindly,
Jeannine
Hi Jeannine, if you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's near you they might have it. If you've found it, please post where you're located and where you found it so it may help others. Thanks! ~Angela

I, too, am addicted to Newman's Own Wild Blueberry Pecan cereal. It's the best cereal I've ever eaten. The only place I've found it was Costco, but they no longer carry it. If you ever find it, let me know.

Unfortunately this cereal fails the sugar test. The first (most abundant) ingredient in this cereal is sugar. It also has corn syrup and maple syrup for a too high sugar content. This is deceptive for a product marketed for its health benefit.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I realize the sugar content may not be ideal for many people, but for us the cereal still makes sense given our allergies. Sometimes I'm willing to sacrifice on the ideal sugar levels if it means getting other nutrition along with it. ~Angela

Hi again... I just read the other comments posted and I found the link that someone sent you about the nutrition info. Thanks :)

Hi,
Do you know how much protein per serving is in the Wild Blueberry cereal? (and what equals one serving?)
Thanks!!

I just bought that cereal at Costco, too! In fact I was googling "newman's own cereal" and your website popped up. :)
I love his salad dressings and his salsas....yummo stuff!
So far everything that's Newman's Own brand that I've tried is really good stuff. They have some chocolate creme filled cookies that are really yummy. Good stuff indeed. I also did some Googling for the cereal and didn't find much either... Thanks for stopping by and posting a comment! :-) ~Angela
Comment from Lisa on 7/13/2005
Do you know the fat, fiber, and calorie content of this cereal?
Hi Lisa, I went ahead and typed up the Nutrition Facts for you. http://www.dwmommy.com/info/NutritionFacts.htm
(Sorry it took me so long to reply! Hope this makes up for it.) ~Angela

Potassium is vital to the function of your heart. Without it you would die very shortly. Are you sure it's potassium you're allergic to and not the other side of the ionic bond (e.g., the chloride in potassium chloride)?
That's a good question and I've wondered the same. Unfortnately I'm not positive on the answer... All I know is that anytime I have something that has potassium on the label I get an itchy throat and end up with post-nasal drip and some swollen glands.
Certain foods are worse than others. For example, bananas, cantaloupe, avacado, salmon, many cereals just abotu any "energy" bar/drink, and orange juice seem to be the ones that bother me the most.
If you know of a good allergist (since I happen to know you're not far from me) I'd love a recommendation. Thanks! ~Angela

I don't know about other "human" food, but if you have any pets, he does have pet food and treats as well. I know the SuperPets in my area carries them.
I didn't know that...thanks! We only have a beta fish right now and I didn't spot his brand at the pet store but I'll definitely spread that news to some pet-owning friends of mine. :-) ~Angela
