Alright, let's hear it; how do you like my stripes? Would you like me to have a style changer? Do you want to submit your own theme? Tell me what you think by adding a comment. I'm listening...

Thanks to Bill Horvath for 5 pictures and a bunch of new captions for the TODCON MX Vegas gallery. If you've already seen the gallery it is worth checking out again just to read his little quips. We're still waiting on pics from Jim, Steve, and Adam. I'll keep you posted!

This year I had a bit of an extended birthday, with gifts coming over the course of about 12 days. It started with Never Ending Story on DVD, and the Garbage CD from Dan on the 26th of May. I went to Disney California adventure with the boys and our friend Rene, who signed us in for free. I had birthday dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on Wednesday night. Then Thursday, The Rum Experience (a book) arrived also from Dan. Friday, I got my birthday present to myself, wireless access, all set up with Dan's help. I spent my birthday home with Gaetano and got cards and lottery tickets from the boys. ($13 in winners.)
Then came TODCON where I got a very cool t-shirt from Jay that you can see in the TODCON MX Vegas gallery. Jay also ordered a leopard print bag for my laptop which arrived yesterday. While at TODCON, I also received a set of Hawaiian novelty ice cubes from Danilo. (They're flowers and palm trees filled with water that you freeze and use as ice cubes.) Massimo gave me a box of chocolates that look like giant lady bugs. He says they're good luck. :-) At the end of TODCON, bottles of wine were given away to people nominated by the audience for one reason or another. I was stunned to hear my name that I don't recall why I was nominated! As you'll see in the gallery, I'm holding a bottle of Syrah, which I'm saving for a special occasion.
I really feel blessed and spoiled by all the above, and by all the warm wishes from friends for a Happy Birthday too. Thanks so much to all of you for making this (extended) birthday special.

I'm lovin' being on wireless. Loverboy just started on cable. I never used to be able to watch TV and work at the same time. It almost reminds me of when I was in high school, and I'd do my homework while watching TV. Anyway, if you've never seen this movie, you should. Mmmmm, pizza...

Well, I got most of the images uploaded today. I still need to add captions to many of them though. Please feel free to recomend captions to me. If I like 'em, I'll add 'em. I have rougly 35 more images to crop/resize/retouch/upload tomorrow from my camera. Then on Monday or Tuesday I should have more from other people to upload too. Sure is time consuming, but better to do it now then to slack and never get around to it... I'm way sleepy, goodnight.

These stripes are so awesome! Nice work!!
Thanks David :-) When I originally made this post it was a different set of stripes than these (but just as "awesome" if I do say so myself).
Truth be told, both sets of stripes (the previous background and this one) were my favorite pajama pants. One of these days I'll get around to adding a style changer and adding more of my jammies as backgrounds...Gotta get inspiration from somewhere, why not jammies?! ;-) ~Angela

I'm very excited about the project as I just finished a design theme for csszengarden.com
You can have a look at http://www.celebrityblog.net/zengarden/zengarden-sample.htm
Congrats! I don't know if or when I'll ever get around to it but if I do... well, you know. ~Angela

There shall be no harassment of Dan for new features :). BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Is there no way I could presuade you...?<pout /> ~Angela

D'OH!!! Damn you MERLOT!!!!!!!
:-) hahahhahahahahaha
Note to self: Harass Dan about adding a time of reply field to the blog-o-matic database. Might be good to ask him while he's still schnockered... Hmm... ~Angela

Consider Derren smacketh... it's like he doesn't have enough work harassing me...
Good, he deserves it. That'll teach him. Although, I must admit, you're fun to harass...
Oh and by the way, when did you change your name? Typlexic? ;-) (Course you have access to my admin :-\) ~Angela

Since you asked, here it comes (I just know I'm going to get "yeah, well your site uses tables for layout!). :) Personally, I find the stripes really distracting. They bother my eyes while I reading, to a such degree that even the limited amount of stripes visible on the "Add A Comment" window makes them sore after a while. For this post, I had to move the window off the bottom of the display so I'd see even less stripes. :)
I equate having "design guts" to having &qout;fashion guts". Would you actually wear a top with these lines on it? Hmm, fashion is different for women than it is for men. ;-) I guess Dan and I don't count since his site is Yeller (not "yellow") and mine is green (well, #003333). :)
Who needs a "Check Spelling" option? Real browsers tie into the built in spell checking services that the OS offers any app that's written to take advantage of it. :)
On a positive note, you don't use tables for layout! ;-)
Yes, I would wear clothing with those stripes. :-) If you find any, do let me know... Dan's gonna have to smack you for some of your comments you know. Them be fightin' words...
Of course I don't use tables for layout, what kind of geek would I be if I did? :-) ~Angela

Love the stripes. I got the link from Eric Meyers' site. I am busy trying to become a CSS disciple so its always good to see good sites like yours. While I like style changers I wonder is it possible to do without using scripts? I maybe wrong but I have this thing about scripts, so if you can do it without then by all means lets see! I think the idea of style and separating style from content is wonderfully portrayed by the CSS Zen Garden site but I'm still looking to see how it can be done without scripts.
But love your bold design keep up the good work
Yet another person with good taste! :-) Thanks for the kind words. Nice to know how folks find my site too. (Thanks Eric.)
I'm not sure what you have against scripts, though I presume you mean JavaScript? I happen to like JavaScript, but I'd probably do it on the server-side. I'd either use a method similar to what Dan did for My DWfaq or the method we used in a session we gave at TODCON 2001.
Unfortunately I don't get to spend as much time playing with my blog as I'd like, or by now a style changer would be done. I've got to do a sushi theme, I just have to...
Thanks Again! ~Angela

Those stripes show real design guts. I like that. It's been hinted that my all-css bike site is 'powerful' (whatever that means).

Design guts; I'll have to remember that one. :-) I'll definitely be checking out your site some more this week. Lots of great stuff there! I'll also be examining the bike site when I get a spare moment. Sans tables for layout, I like. :-)
Sidenote: Love the domain name. At first I expected it to be a search engine positioning site. My brother's name is John, and that's what he does.
Thanks for the comments! ~Angela

Stripes are gooooood
Well of course you like 'em... your blog is yellow! ~Angela
Comment from Pete on 6/8/2003
Lose the stripes :), they are too distracting. The focus should be on the content and the menu, but all I see is the stripes!
I few styles would be nice, always nice to offer a choice :)
ps... when clicking 'Check Spelling' I get a 'Page Cannot be found' :( .. I was curious about what you are using for the spell checking, is it a custom dll?
I won't be getting rid of the stripes any time soon, but new themes are entirely possible (though not soon either). As for the spell check... OOPS! It was working in the admin area (not that I use it as much as I should!) and I just assumed it worked on the front end. It is an Active X requiring MS Word. ~Angela
Comment from Jay on 6/8/2003
It's your blog.. I say make everyone see what you want them to see.. unless you decide to change it to brown leopard! :)
Hmmm now that's a thought...match my laptop case. ~Angela
