Good news; the bone scan came back negative. Bad news is, I still have no idea what's caused the calcification on my ribs and the slew of other recent health problems.
I'm scheduled to see the doctor on Friday to discuss what we can do at this point. He's at a loss for ideas at the moment. My big question for him is how concerned I should be about the calcium, and what long term problems can it cause me. What should I expect might happen? I'd rather be prepared and informed.
I'll certainly keep the blog updated. Thanks to all of you who have expressed your concern both here and privately.

I too have calcification on my ribcage, im 26....trying to find any information on it. I have pain with it, and I have bone scan comeing up in 3 days. I was wondering if you found out anything on your ribs. Do they hurt you at all? Please let me know.
They only seem to hurt if I've been laying on my stomach for a long period receiving a back rub. Otherwise not a problem for me. Hope yours turn out ok too! ~Angela

Hello...did you ever find out what caused your rib calcification and if there is anything to do to correct it? Is it a dangerous condition? When I was having a rib graft done, the surgeon found that my rib was'brittle and calcified'...
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
The doctor said that there was no good reason for it that could be determined and that it wasn't anything to worry about. He thought that perhaps at one point I may have had a parathyroid imbalance of sorts but that was purely speculation with no means to prove it.
Hope you're doing well! ~Angela

having the same rib cage calcification you are and same test results. Very anxious to hear what your doc says..will tell you what mine says. You dont happen to have colitis by well by any chance?
Hi Gretchen,
I'll definitely post again once I know more. I need to reschedule an appointment with the doctor (thanks for reminding me) to see what further testing (if any) should be done at this point.
To answer your question... No, as far as I know I don't suffer from colitis.
Good luck and good health, ~Angela

What long term problems it can cause you, we will see in 40 years or so.
Now don't waste your time and write a new extension!

LOL :-) Thanks Wojciech. Since my car broke down last night, I probably won't be able to make Friday's appointment anyway. I'll probably be writing an extension instead ;-) ~Angela
